Why Margarines and Spreads?

In general, Margarines and spreads offer a healthy alternative to butter without the cholesterol.* These butter alternatives are naturally cholesterol-free because they are made with vegetable oils.
Trans Fat

In response to concerns about trans fat, we have developed Fleischmann’s soft spreads to be trans fat-free. They continue to contain monounsaturated fatty acids, which research shows may have health benefits.**
Using Margarine and Spreads

Today margarines and spreads are designed to fit a wide variety of taste, nutrition and cooking needs.
- Stick margarine is most commonly used for baking desserts and other baked goods. For example, Fleischmann's Original stick can be substituted for any recipe that calls for butter, providing the same light, buttery taste without the cholesterol.
- Soft spreads are extremely versatile, and are great for spreading on your favorite foods. They can also be melted over cooked vegetables, fish and lean meats. Spreads are generally not recommended for cooking or baking.
